Canon 60d vs nikon d90?

I recently purchased a d90 from best buy. Turns out the camera is defective. I keep getting random error messages which is intolerable after only 3 days with a $1200 camera. I've also heard that this isn't uncommon. I'm thinking of exchanging it for the 60d as I've never had any problem with the canons I've owned and my gf has a 30d. Which camera do you like better and which is of better quality? I'm quiet dissapointed with nikon...
