Science doesn't need to disprove God:?

I always thought science's only purpose was to expand our knowledge of the universe. It has no set goal other than to increase our understanding of the universe...now if on the way there it happens to disprove any "Gods" then so be it. So I would say it doesn't need to disprove anything only continue to expand our understanding of how things work. To get us as close as we can to the truth.
